Guide

How does it work?

Every Solana address comes from a random key, so you can't choose one. What you can do is generate millions of keys until one happens to start with your word.

Addresses are random. Ours aren't.

A Solana address is the public half of a keypair, written in base58. When a wallet creates an account, it picks a random private key and the address follows from the math. There's no way to choose the address first and work backward to a key.

So we brute-force it instead. We generate a keypair, check whether the address starts with your word, throw it away if it doesn't, and repeat. We call this grinding. We keep going until we find a match, at the fixed price you agreed.

What happens when you order

  1. Pick a word. The pump.fun launch tab gets you a token (mint) address that starts with your word. The Wallet tab gets you a wallet address that starts with it. Add an ending and we match both ends, like degen…fun, or leave the start empty and we match just the ending, like …pump.
  2. Your browser makes a key. Before you pay, your browser creates an encryption key that never leaves this device. We encrypt your result to it.
  3. Pay in SOL. Connect your wallet, check your order and approve a single transfer for its fixed price. Your browser checks the transaction first: the right amount, to our address, for your order, and nothing else.
  4. We grind. Once the payment is final on Solana, we start searching. Short words take seconds and long ones can take a while, so get notified when your address is ready instead of watching. You can also close the tab and come back on the same browser, or use your recovery file on another device.
  5. Your browser opens the result. The keypair arrives encrypted. Only your browser can decrypt it. It then re-derives the address from the private key and checks it starts and ends the way you ordered before showing it to you.

Why longer words cost more

Base58 has 58 characters, so each extra letter makes a match about 58 times rarer. A 5-letter word takes around 650 million tries on average. A 6-letter word takes 38 billion, and a 7-letter word takes 2.2 trillion. On a laptop, that's the difference between minutes and months: try your word in our solana-keygen grind calculator.

Not caring about capitalization helps a lot. Most letters can then match in upper or lower case, so each extra letter only makes the search about 29 times harder.

The first letter matters too. Most Solana addresses start with a number from 2 to 9 or a capital A to H, so words that start that way are much faster to find. When a capital would speed yours up, we offer it as you type. With an ending too, put the part that starts that way first: Based…moon is much faster to find than moon…Based, and we offer the swap as you type. We price your exact word.

An ending works like more letters. Every letter at the end is one more letter to match, so degen…fun takes about as long as an eight-letter word. To bring the price down, keep the ending short or stop caring about capitalization.

Fast gets priority in the queue and speeds up longer searches. You can compare its price and estimated time before you pay.

Why no 0, O, I or l?

Your word can use letters and the numbers 1 to 9. Base58 leaves out characters that are easy to confuse: 0 (zero), O (capital o), I (capital i) and l (lowercase L). Your word can't contain a zero. If you care about capitalization, it can't contain O, I or l either. If you don't, we'll match whichever case exists.

The same rule protects you: a lookalike can't swap a zero for an O, so it has to match your real characters and pay for each one. More on whether vanity addresses are safe.

Times are a range. Your price is fixed.

Grinding is luck, so we show a range: about half of searches finish by the first number and 95% by the second, before any wait to get started. Your price is fixed when you order, and we keep searching until we find your address, at no extra cost. Changed your mind? Cancel for a full refund before generation starts.

Using your key

Your turn

Your word belongs in your address.

Pick how your wallet address starts and ends, like HoLy…Shit. You pay in SOL, we find it, and your key arrives encrypted to your browser, so only you can open it. Import it into Phantom, Solflare or Backpack.
